SciPDF® changes how we store and share results. Better than traditional PDFs, SciPDF® files not only contain text and images, but also precise analytical raw and result data. SciPDF allows vendor-independent, ubiquitous access to your scientific reports, improving traceability and data quality.
Today, the PDF format is widely used for delivering result data, reporting and long-term archiving of scientific data. PDF is a great format for visual content. However, PDF documents only present an image, not actual live data which could be used for reprocessing or further analysis.
With SciPDF® Technology from BSSN Software, it is now possible to embed scientific data within a PDF document. You can now add actual spectra, chromatograms, peak lists, sample data, method information and much more to a PDF document. This information is stored in machine-readable form (not just as an image), letting you access and reprocess it any way you want later. SciPDF allows you to embed all the information needed to substantiate the data on your reports.
SciPDF Reader from BSSN Software allows scientists to explore and analyze the embedded analytical data. SciPDF files can also be opened with Adobe Acrobat Reader, allowing anybody to see the visual report.
Data Sharing and Result Delivery
Using SciPDF, laboratories and CROs can deliver results to their customers with an unprecedented level of detail. Having not only a visual PDF image but also the full set of raw and result data addresses a number of important challenges. Reported data can be traced back to the original measurement data, leading to better transparency and higher confidence in the results.
Ubiquitous Data Review
Using SciPDF Reader, scientific results can be reviewed without requiring the original instrument software. Raw data, including chromatograms and spectra, can be zoomed and panned, overlaid and compared. Even peaks are highlighted. Chromatograms are hyperlinked to spectra for easy navigation. Peak lists and quantitation results are also displayed. For additional processing and annotation capabilities, users can upgrade to Seahorse Scientific Workbench.
SciPDF allows easy long-term archiving of raw data and reports. Today, many organizations rely on a combination of proprietary vendor data formats, along with traditional PDF reports. After a while, the software to read the proprietary content will no longer be available, rendering the instrument data file inaccessible.
What remains is the PDF report. However, it does not contain enough information to process the data further. SciPDF combines the strengths of PDF reports and raw data in a single, easily archived file. Now, maintaining the original instrument software is no longer required – long-term raw data access remains possible.
SciPDF can be integrated into the reporting workflow you already use today. Users generate the report with any software capable of generating a PDF file. This can be your instrument software, a CDS, Seahorse Scientific Workbench, or even Microsoft Office. Once the PDF is created, the SciPDF Generator Tool comes in and adds the raw data to the PDF, turning it into a SciPDF. This process can be fully automated.
SciPDF documents are ready for use in environments regulated by 21 CFR Part 11 or GxP. Just like regular PDF files, you can digitally sign them, even with the standard PDF tools you already have. This makes it a great tool for storing signed ELN records and other reports.
