Most modern labs work with a wide variety of instruments, measurement techniques and colleagues. They shouldn’t be tied to any one proprietary file format or stuck in an inaccessible data silo. That’s why we’ve developed a robust library of AnIML-based data converters and instrument software connectors designed to unlock and open up your data, so you can work with it however you want and uncover valuable insights.

With our converters, we can translate analytical data from a variety of traditional proprietary file formats into AnIML. First, the converter reads and decodes the proprietary format; then, it creates a semantically identical copy of it in AnIML format and writes it to disk. Now you have an AnIML file that you can use with any AnIML-compliant software tool. 

Our converters seamlessly integrate with all our applications, letting you treat instrument data files just like AnIML data. This erases the boundaries between your vendor-specific data silos to harmonize your analytical data, letting you finally make the fullest use of it.

Open formats

We’re great friends of open standard formats. In fact, we’ve even helped build some of the ones listed below.
If you have a choice, we recommend AnIML. In our experience it’s the most versatile format.

AnIML

The ASTM-supported XML format for analytical and biological data. Recommended.

ANDI / AIA / CDF

A UCAR-supported chromatography data format supported by most CDSs.

JCAMP-DX

The IUPAC standard format for spectral data exchange, commonly used for spectroscopy & chromatography data.

mzData

A standardized XML format for mass spectrometry data created by HUPO-PSI.

mzML

The ASMS-supported XML format for mass spectrometry data.

Semi-open formats


The following formats are not public standards. However, Thermo Fisher Scientific has done a good job at publishing and documenting them, so we gladly support them.

GAML

XML-based exchange format for data from numerous analytical instruments; supported by many Thermo products.

SPC

A format for all kinds of spectroscopic data, common for infrared, Raman and UV/Vis.
