At Analytica 2020, we were invited to participate in a number of virtual workshops to showcase how BSSN™ Software can interoperate with other technologies in the lab to deliver more efficient, automated processes.

This virtual workshop focuses on continuous bioprocessing and temperature control 4.0, featuring a Lauda Integral IN 150 XT process thermostat integrated with our BSSN™ Hub software. The video transcript is presented in full below.

Temperature Control 4.0: Lauda and BSSN™ Software

Welcome to the Digital Transformation Forum on the subject of “Temperature Control 4.0.” We will show you how a Lauda Integral IN 150 XT process thermostat embedded in the structure of a bioreactor system can be used in the production process of biological active ingredients—also known as bioprocessing.

The key element here is the exchange of data between the temperature control system and the continuous process of recording and documentation through the Sea Star Lab information Hub [BSSN™ Hub] from BSSN™ Software, for instance. This offers the possibility to visualize and manage corresponding data from the entire laboratory environment in the new AnIML format.

The Lauda Integral provides information during the production process about the temperatures, the temperature control medium, and the instrument status via its interface. The integrated web server or the LAUDA app offer the user the option to securely encrypt the obtained data, no matter if they are captured locally or globally, and to visualize the data via desktop and mobile devices.

This is particularly relevant for current COVID-19 vaccine research, in which temperature control must be carried out precisely over several days, a wide variety of locations can be used for central coordination and control.

Voice control is also possible, offering even more degrees of freedom in operation: “Hey Lauda, show temperature graph.”

In bioprocess technology, however, smaller temperature control devices such as the ECO E4G are also used for cultivating and optimizing the growth conditions for bacterial strains. In addition, process-relevant temperature control data are sent to the connected end devices and documentation software via the interface.

By including the SmartRack from Better Basics Laborbedarf the workflow is ergonomically optimized and, as a result, the optical density test is made easier.

The merging of IoT-based information increases efficiency and reliability, while mapping secure processes worldwide.
