AnIML Data Converters
Data converters have the role of translating instrument data into the AnIML format. Traditionally, vendors use a variety of proprietary file formats to store analytical data. A data converter is able to read and decode the proprietary format. After decoding, it creates a semantically identical copy of it using the AnIML format and writes it to disk. Now, you have an AnIML file which can be used with any AnIML-compliant software tool.
Creating a converter is not trivial. It requires understanding of the proprietary instrument format. Often, there is significant intellectual property in the file format. Accordingly, converters are written mostly by instrument vendors or by trusted third parties with good vendor relationships.
